Tea is drunk to forget the din of the world. ~T’ien Yiheng

for me, that could not be more true. it is actually chilly here tonight in so cal and i am taking the opportunity to enjoy one of my favorite simple pleasures: a steaming cup of tea.
it always amuses me that i love tea so much these days because, when i was little, i used to make gagging sounds whenever my dad would make tea. (lovely wasn’t i?) but now? i cannot wait for the cool weather so that i can curl up in bed or on the couch, wrap my hands around a hot mug, breathe in the steam and scent, and slowly savor a cup of tea.
i began drinking tea after my divorce. it became such an escape for me because it drowned out the noise of the world and in my head. it was a comfort on the nights that i felt so alone and it was a good alternative to downing a six pack. drinking tea soothes me in ways that i desperately need; perhaps because my thoughts are of little else except for the tea itself. these moments calm my mind, warm my soul, and allows me to gain perspective on my life.
do you have a simple pleasure?

Wow; I love the new blog! You are AWESOME! I get anxiety even contemplating doing something like this. My simple pleasure is….drum roll…going to bed REALLY early. Like 8pm. Nothing like it. And it almost never happens! I also love locking myself in my room and reading while the kids are upstairs.
