girls night in!
nothing can cure the funk like a girls night! the total effect was not exactly immediate but i did feel so much better the next morning and, over the last couple of days, the clouds have certainly lifted as i reflect on my time spent just for me.
i spent saturday night with my bestest best and 2 other fabulous women. we toyed with the idea of stepping out but all we really wanted to do was stay in and relax. a few mixed drinks, a college football game or two, yummy appetizers, a couple of slices of delivered pizza, and avocado/oatmeal facials later and we were all beginning to relax. i had a wonderful time. we got to the girl talk in the morning and i was sad when i had to go.
it is so reaffirming to be surrounded by such successful, intelligent, hardworking, caring, insightful, generous, fun, silly women. it helps me feel better about myself and the world we live in. the thing i appreciated most is that although we are all in different places in our life in terms of careers, relationships, education, families etc. and yet, we can still come together, understand and support each other. that is priceless! it always has been. one of the many benefits to having my bestest best in my life is that she consistently surrounds herself with really great people.
to be silly and girly and not scared to say what i really think and feel and just the chance to get away from the stresses of life for a night was so great and something that i certainly need to try to do more often. it certainly helped put things into a different perspective for me.
making time for me and my girl friends is another one of those things that needs to be moved of the ‘i’ll do that tomorrow’ list.
