I Call Times!

this is me calling times: a much needed break from the numerous things that chase me daily demanding my attention. i’m safe…even if just for a moment or two.

say hello to our little friend

This is Jasper. He’s our new dog. Ain’t he cute?

Just over a week ago we sent my brother’s labs off to Michigan after taking care of them for a couple of years. When they came into our lives, I was wanting a dog - I love dogs, grew up with them - but we were looking for one and a small one. They were great dogs but I always thought of them as his and not mine and we are happy that they have a fabulous new home. My brother is happy too. He really loved those dogs and it was really hard for him to have to travel and give them up for a while. Now that that happy family is reunited, we were left with the opportunity to bring another dog into our lives - a small one.

Enter Jasper - he’s only about 5 pounds! and he’s the biggest sweetheart of a dog. We got him from a family that was looking for a good home for him. They had taken him in when his original owners were moving and not able to take him along and were facing taking him to the pound. The family we got him from took him in in order to find a new home for him. We did not purchase him, or pay a ‘rehoming’ fee. We were jsut lucky enough to be able to give him a much needed new home.

Jasper is totally a lap dog but not super needy in terms of demanding attention. I think he’s a perfect fit for us. We will have to dog proof the yard because he is small enough to fit though the space at the bottom of the fence! He is also full of energy - much more than I figured given his small size. I took him on a walk this morning and we had to go around 4 blocks before he finally started slowing down! Now he is napping peacefully but I suspect he’ll need another walk later today. It’ll be a good thing. He is small enough that even the youngest can handle him. He’ll also be great company and motivation for me to get moving! He’ll be good to take along on errands or short trips. As much as I have joked about having a dog small enough that I could carry it around in my purse, I will not however be doing that with this dog :O)
